In this episode, we touch a bit on the “Color Splash” series and talk about the Revonix 360.
Here it is! Episode 38 covers our adventure at the Nerf Mega Bash! (For some reason this wound up being low quality, we’ll try to get a higher quality version up as soon as we can!)
Hey there Nerf Nation! Mr. S here. I know I know, I haven’t exactly been posting on here lately. Bad me I thought I’d give you guys something to talk about in regards to last night’s awesome Media Event, the MEGA Summer Bash. As you can probably guess from the name the focus of the event was on the Nerf MEGA Centurion. It’s been all over the internet with mixed thoughts but, all things considered this blaster has some great points.
The size is impressive, at something like 6 inches longer than the LongShot. The color scheme is sleek and pretty stylish (although Mr. K wishes it matched the Crimson series more). The ammo has caused some controversy, but in my opinion it’s not too bad all things considered. I would love to talk more about the Centurion but all things in due time. We have a lot of info to cover and updates and detailed descriptions will be coming soon. Please bear with us.
I also wanted to quickly touch base on the two blasters that kinda stole the show for many of the other guests in attendance. There were four “shooting galleries” setup this year; obviously the Centurion, the Elite RapidStrike, the Vortex Revonix 360 and the much awaited Rebelle line of blasters. It was a great opportunity to get our hands on these other blasters that we have been seeing online for quite some time now and run them through their paces.
The RapidStrike was the favorite of many attendees and for great reasons. This blaster is pretty awesome. Its has been compared to the Stampede here and there, and there are many similarities between these blasters. I’m not going to say much right now but I will say a couple things to make the wait all the better. First off, CLEAR CLIP!! I’m not talking the half and half elite clips that we’ve seen before, or the see through orange clips either, this is a full on clear clear no color clear 18 round clip. It looks pretty sweet! Second, it is full auto and does fire faster than the Stampete. No burst fire, and Slam Fire functionality is still faster, but for what it is, the RapidStrike has what people want.
My personal favorite of the show was the Revonix 360. I am a huge fan of the Vortex line, with the Pyragon at the top of the list. The Revoinx has the potential to knock the king from its thrown. I wasn’t so much paying attention to how many discs the Revonix can hold, but it has a sufficient capacity for my wants. The main feature I wanted to mention is something that has been mentioned before, but is so much cooler having actually used it. I’m talking about the ability to reload on the fly. This is such an interesting feature for a large capacity Vortex blaster. It is actually really easy to reload and you can do it really fast, one thing to note is that the blaster revolves the cylinder after every shot so if you’re out, don’t fill up one full “clip” in the hopes of getting to unload it all at once (personal experience).
I’m only going to touch briefly on the Rebelle line. We have so much info to go through regarding this line of blasters specifically designed for girls. The concept is solid, and it’s good to see Nerf branching out and shaking hands with the clamoring female fans who wanted something more marketed for them. The Rebelle line has some great offerings. We had a chance to try out the HeartBreaker Bow and the Guardian Crossbow. I have so many comments about this line, but that’ll wait for now to take up its own separate article. Don’t worry gals, it’s not gonna be a hate fest
The last piece of information I’m going to leave you with involves a blaster that we posted about recently. The Elite Spectre has been confirmed to be coming stateside!! We are unsure as to the when, but we have information that it will be the second exclusive to grace the shelves of Walmart. We are so looking forward to the chance to see this guy close up.
So there you have it, a teaser of awesome things to come. There are so many awesome things we want to talk about, so stay tuned for an episode of The AFoN show with all the great awesomeness!
Our flight was cancelled, so we have to deal with that, so our updates will be delayed at least until we figure things out. Sorry!
I’ve just heard back from my contact in Nerf, and according to them, the Stockade is indeed coming to Walmart stores in the US. Apparently the date is up in the air, and to be determined by Walmart themselves, so when it’ll actually hit shelves is anyone’s guess. I’ve tried to contact Walmart to see if they can shed any light on the time frame for release, but after a week I’m thinking I won’t hear back.
As for the Elite Spectre, my contact is looking in to it further to see if it will be coming to the US at all, or like the Elite PinPoint Sight, be strictly an Asian exclusive. While I’m hoping that we’ll see it here in the US some time this year, I’m not holding my breath. I would really love to add it to my collection, or at least the awesome accessories that come with it. As for where it’ll be if it comes out, it’s anyone’s guess. I’m not sure that Walmart will have two exclusive blasters, especially with the sparse amount of space the already dedicate to one of the most popular boy’s toys.
I also managed to get an update on the Revonix360 and (what I’m calling) the Vortex “Color Splash” series. They will be coming out this fall, which tends to mean somewhere between August and November this year. Whether they are released before or after the Centurion is anyone’s guess, but my money is before, as they may be the ‘Clear the way’ blasters for the Centurion.
As always, check back frequently for official information on what’s coming out in the world of Nerf, and remember:
